A beloved figure in the Kardashian-Jenner family, Mary Jo “M.J.” Shannon has died at the age of 91. Her daughter Kris Jenner announced the news with an emotional message, honouring her mother’s unconditional love, guidance and the memories they shared throughout their lives.
Jenner shared the heartbreaking news on Thursday through an emotional Instagram tribute, posting a photo of her mother and reflecting on their close relationship. The cause of death was not disclosed.
“Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ,” Jenner wrote alongside the photo.
She added that no words could fully capture what her mother meant to her or the pain of saying goodbye.
In her tribute, Jenner described Mary Jo as the “heart of our family” and said she taught them important values, including loving family deeply, showing kindness and always being there for loved ones.
Jenner said her mother showed the family how to love unconditionally, appreciate life’s small moments and face challenges with resilience and faith.
She also thanked her mother for her love, sacrifices and guidance, saying she would deeply miss their daily conversations and the special bond they shared.
Jenner said her mother’s influence would continue through her children and grandchildren, adding that many parts of who she is were shaped by Mary Jo’s teachings.
“When I look at my kids and my grandkids, I will forever see pieces of you in all of us,” Jenner wrote.
She said she would always be grateful for the childhood, memories and love her mother gave her, adding that her legacy would live on through the family.

She most recently appeared in two episodes of the sixth season of “The Kardashians” in 2025.
