The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a Class I recall for more than 900 cases of Alfredo sauce over concerns of potential salmonella contamination, warning of a serious health risk that could lead to severe illness or death in vulnerable individuals.

The recall covers 913 cases of Alfredo sauce packaged in 3-pound, 7-ounce sealed poly bags, with each case containing 12 bags, according to FDA records.

The affected products were distributed across 41 states, including major markets such as Texas, New York, Illinois, and California.

Authorities classified the recall as Class I, the FDA’s most severe risk category, indicating a “reasonable probability” of serious adverse health effects or fatal outcomes if consumed.

The recall was voluntarily initiated on May 6 by The Coffee Connexion Co., Inc., based in Tennessee, after the company was alerted by its ingredient supplier about possible contamination linked to a dairy component used in production.

While the investigation is still ongoing, officials confirmed that no illnesses have been reported so far in connection with the affected batches. However, the FDA has urged caution as exposure risk continues to be assessed across distribution channels.

Health experts warn that salmonella infection can be particularly dangerous for children, elderly individuals, and people with weakened immune systems. Infected individuals may experience high fever, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and abdominal cramps, and severe cases may require hospitalization.

Regulatory agencies are currently working to trace distribution routes and evaluate the full scope of potential exposure as the recall remains under active monitoring.
