Indian-Americans arranged a protest in over 30 US cities on Republic Day.

India’s 71st Republic day was celebrated in the US.

A great number of Indian-Americans joined protests and marches yesterday in several cities against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act.

However, a few of Indian-Americans supported CAA. They said, “India cares for Neighbouring Minorities”

“CAA Won’t Impact Indian Citizens.”

Protestors arranged peaceful rallies in several US cities. They were carrying banners and raising slogans against CAA and the Indian government. They also demanded cancellation of CAA and National Register for Citizens (NRC).

Indian-Americans held protests in cities such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Atlanta having Indian consulates. They also protested at the Indian Embassy in Washington DC.

They shouted, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”  “Hindu, Muslim Sikh, Isai: Aapas Mein Saab Bhai Bhai.”

Protests were also arranged in several cities in India.

People were seen standing in long queues in Kerela. They made a 620 Km long chain on Republic day to protest against CAA and NRC.


Republic Day is celebrated in India every year on 26th January. India celebrated Republic Day with a parade show representing the culture and military of India.

On 26th January 1950, the constitution of India came into effect and the country became fully republic. It is because the constitution replaced the Government of India Act.

A national holiday is observed every year on 26th January in India.
