More than 300 people have lost their lives and 1,000 people have become ill in Iran as they consumed methanol.

People believed that methanol will protect them against coronavirus.

Local media reported that fake remedies have spread through social media in Iran.

Note that there are over 29,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Iran whereas 2,200 people have lost their lives.

This is the highest death toll in the Middle East, according to the sources.

Dr. Hossein Hassanian, an advisor to Iran’s Health Ministry said, “Other countries have only one problem, which is the new coronavirus pandemic,” He claimed that the issue could be more severe than reported.

He also said, “We have to both cure the people with alcohol poisoning and also fight the coronavirus.”

He added, “Unfortunately in some provinces, including Khuzestan and Fars, deaths from drinking methanol has exceeded the number of deaths by the new coronavirus,”

Local news says that false suggestions and remedies have spread through social media. Fake social media accounts falsely suggested a British school teacher others treated themselves with whiskey and honey to avoid coronavirus.

Several people began consuming industrial alcohol as they believed it would protect them against coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, as per the research coronavirus hit older adults hardest as with flu, immune changes and other health conditions are to blame but if Allah wills not, no one can harm, 101-year-old man in the coastal Italian town of Rimini has recovered from the COVId-19.

According to deputy mayor of Rimini, Italy Gloria Lisi, a 101-year-old Italian man was recently released from hospital after making a full recovery from COVID-19.
