Eight people died as a Tokyo-bound plane crashed while taking off from Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippines capital city of Manila on Sunday.

Airport personnel reported to the international news agency that all passengers on board Lion Air Flight RPC 5880 died.

The flight’s passenger manifest said that An American and a Canadian were on board the flight.

Red Cross spokesman Richard Gordon said that the passengers included medical personnel.

Sources said that the plane was reportedly carrying medical supplies. The plane caught fire on the runway.
