An international aid group has warned that 0.7 million children in Syria are on the verge of hunger due to the coronavirus restrictions.

According to the details, the group “Save the Children” has warned that the ongoing pandemic restrictions and severely affected the economy of Syria will have a drastic impact on the lives of children.

Save the Children said the total number of food-insecure children across the country has risen to more than 4.6 million.

The economy of Syria has been severely affected by the war as well as by widespread corruption,  Western sanctions, and the financial crisis in neighboring Lebanon.

The spread of coronavirus in the war-torn country has worsened the situation.

The international aid group said an unprecedented number of children in Syria are now battling soaring malnutrition rates.

According to the recent survey conducted by the  international aid, the group revealed that 65% of children “have not had an apple, an orange, or a banana for at least three months.”

Furthermore, the situation in Northern Syria is worse where an area controlled by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, almost a quarter of children said they had not eaten those fruit in at least nine months

Parents have little choice but to cut out fresh food such as vegetables, fruits, and meat, relying instead on rice or grains for weeks.
