Asian Hate Crime: NYPD Makes An Arrest For Attacking Old Woman

The New York Police Department (NYPD) has on Wednesday has launched an investigation over the attack on an Asian woman, 65, in Midtown Manhattan.

According to media reports, the NYPD officials said the old Asian woman was attacked by a stranger who said, “You don’t belong here,” and kicked her to the ground.

She was walking to church past a West 43rd Street apartment building. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital as she suffered a broken pelvis, police officials added.

The video of the incident, released by the police officials showed a security guard watching the attack from the lobby of a luxury apartment building without intruding.

However, the public and social welfare organizations came forth and condemned all forms of discrimination, racism, and violence against the Asian American community.

Furthermore, the NYPD has also announced to put Asian officers hidden to help resist the recent spate of hate crimes against Asians.

“We’re putting heavy, heavy uniform presence as well,” the police department said.

Earlier, Six Asian-American and two other women had been killed in shootings at three spas in the US State of Georgia.

Four people were killed at a massage parlour in Acworth. Police had said that four more have been killed at two spas in the city itself.

#StopAsianHate soon after the incident, had begun to trend top on Twitter as netizens demand equal rights for the Asian community.
