It has been revealed that India has spied on 25 Kashmiri leaders through the Israeli cyber-intelligence software, Pegasus.

Indian media has revealed that the Modi government spied on 25 Kashmiri leaders who do not recognize Delhi’s government policy through the Israeli software Pegasus.

The spying process lasted from 2017 to 2019 and involved an Indian agency which hired Israel’s NSO group.

According to the Indian newspaper ‘The Hindu’, the phones of four members of the family of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, a pro-Pakistani Kashmiri separatist senior leader of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat party, were targeted.

Among them were Syed Ali Geelani’s son-in-law, a journalist, and his scientist son Naseem Geelani.

Not only that, but the phone of Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq, the head of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, was also targeted and the phone of his driver and human rights leader Waqar Bhatti was also tapped.

The phones of Liberal leader Bilal Lone and SAR Geelani were also analyzed using the Israeli software.

Phones of two members of the family of former Chief Minister of Occupied Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti were also spied on.

The move came at a time when Mehbooba Mufti was the chief minister of the occupied valley and an ally of the BJP.

Apart from them, the phones of 5 Kashmiri journalists were also spied on by Pegasus.
