Admiral R Hari Kumar takes charge as India’s new navy chief

NEW DELHI: Admiral R Hari Kumar Tuesday took charge as the new chief of the Indian navy, a spokesperson said.
Kumar took charge following the retirement of Admiral Karambir Singh from service.

“Admiral R Hari Kumar today assumes charge as the 25th Chief of the Naval Staff,” an Indian navy spokesperson in a brief statement said.

Born on April 12, 1962, he was commissioned on Jan. 1, 1983, into the executive branch of the Indian navy.

Kumar has served in a variety of command, staff and instructional appointments.
