24 dead in Texas floods, several people missing

TEXAS: Torrential rains and severe flooding have brought life to a standstill in the US state of Texas, resulting in at least 24 deaths and leaving several people missing.

According to local reports, rescue and relief efforts have been launched across the state, with 100 military personnel deployed to support ongoing search and rescue operations.

Among the worst-affected areas is the city of San Angelo, which has witnessed widespread damage due to the storm and subsequent flooding.

The emergency teams are working around the clock to assist stranded residents and restore essential services.

Authorities report that several areas in Texas experienced rainfall equal to several months’ average within just a few hours, leading to severe flash flooding.

Streets and neighborhoods were inundated, with water levels rising several feet in some locations. According to weather data, rainfall ranged from 6 to 10 inches in different parts of the state, overwhelming drainage systems and leaving many roads impassable.

Emergency services remain on high alert as efforts continue to assist affected communities.
