The alleged cause of the fire in the deaths of newborns at PIMS Hospital in Islamabad has emerged.
According to reports, the fire in the PIMS nursery started due to a short circuit in an incubator, after which it spread to other incubators in the hall.
Reports said that the gas cylinders of all the incubators were interconnected, which caused the fire to spread from one incubator to another.

According to reports, the baby girl inside the incubator where the fire started survived, while the other newborns in the remaining incubators lost their lives.
A heartbreaking tragedy struck early Wednesday morning, Aug. 26, when at least 15 newborns died at the nursery of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad. Sixteen babies were reportedly being treated in the nursery at the time of the incident.
The fire broke out at about 6:45 a.m. in the gynaecology ward’s nursery, according to rescue officials. The sudden blaze quickly spread through the area, prompting emergency teams to rush to the hospital and begin rescue operations.
