CHILAS: A cloudburst triggered severe flash floods in the Thor area of Chilas, causing major destruction to homes, farmland, livestock and local infrastructure.
The sudden flood rushed down from nearby mountains and hit the region with little warning. A mosque in Thor-Mek was also damaged as floodwaters spread through the area. Several houses were affected, and one residential home was completely swept away along with household items, livestock and a vehicle. Valuable belongings, including cash and gold recovered from a local placer mining activity, were also lost in the water.

Floodwater entered multiple villages and spread debris into residential areas, making conditions worse for local families. Agricultural land was also heavily damaged as standing crops in different parts of Thor, including Thor-Shaitan and Thor-Mek, were destroyed by fast moving water.
Road connections to the area have been cut off, leaving residents isolated and making it difficult for aid and rescue teams to reach the affected communities. Local people have started relief efforts on their own, trying to support families impacted by the disaster.
Authorities and locals said that blocked routes are creating serious challenges for both rescue work and basic movement in the region. The situation remains difficult as recovery efforts continue in the flood hit area.
