LOS ANGELES: The cast of “The Fast and the Furious” reunited in Los Angeles to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary, turning the milestone into a joyful reunion filled with memories, shared moments and nostalgia from the franchise that first sparked the journey.

The event brought together stars from the original 2001 film and later entries in the popular action franchise. The cast gathered outside the venue, on Monday, Aug.17, where they posed for photos beside cars displayed for the anniversary celebration.

Walker, the daughter of the late Paul Walker, also shared photos from the reunion with Diesel and Brewster. Her father played Brian O’Connor, one of the franchise’s central characters, in the original film and several of its sequels.

Inside the theater, Diesel, Rodriguez and Brewster spoke to the audience before the anniversary screening. Longtime producer Neal H. Moritz also joined the actors during the event.

The Fast and the Furious was released in theaters June 22, 2001. The movie introduced audiences to several characters who later became central to the franchise. Diesel played Dominic Toretto, a skilled street racer and leader.

Brewster played Mia Toretto, Dominic’s sister, while Rodriguez portrayed Letty Ortiz, a skilled driver and Dominic’s longtime partner.

The anniversary celebration also featured other familiar faces from the franchise. Tyrese Gibson and Nathalie Emmanuel attended the event, along with original cast members Noel Gugliemi and Chad Lindberg.

The reunion comes as fans prepare to watch the original movie on the big screen again. The Fast and the Furious will return to participating theaters beginning Friday, Aug. 21, as part of its 25th anniversary celebration.

The return gives longtime fans another chance to experience the movie in theaters while introducing the first film to a new generation of viewers.

The Fast and Furious franchise has grown from a street racing story into one of Hollywood’s biggest action series. Its films have featured high speed cars, international locations and an expanding group of characters.

The original movie helped establish Diesel, Walker, Rodriguez and Brewster as key figures in the franchise. Twenty five years later, their reunion has given fans a chance to look back at the film that started it all.
