Kathryn Hahn is stepping into a new spotlight with singing and dancing as she prepares to play Mother Gothel in Disney’s upcoming live action “Tangled,” revealing how the role has taken her career in an unexpected direction.

Hahn, known for her Emmy nominated performance as Agatha Harkness in Marvel’s WandaVision, said she never expected professional singing to become part of her career. The actress previously showcased her vocals in the series with the songs “Agatha All Along” and “The Ballad of the Witches’ Road.”

The actress joked about her singing abilities, saying she has always been comfortable performing karaoke, but professional singing was never something she had planned to pursue.

Describing the experience, Hahn compared it to stepping into the world of the classic musical film Fame. “I’m just telling people that it feels like I’m in Fame right now,” she said.

Hahn added that filming preparations are already underway, with rehearsals giving her the chance to develop the performance side of Mother Gothel. “They’re shooting and I’ve been rehearsing. I’ve been singing and dancing “she said.

Hahn described Mother Gothel as “such a fabulous part,” expressing excitement about playing one of the most memorable characters from the original animated Tangled.

The upcoming live action Tangled is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 31, 2028, bringing the beloved Disney story to the big screen with a new cast and live action setting.
