KOREA: Singer Sunmi is releasing a new digital single on July 15, taking a different approach to the summer sound track by centering it on rain instead of sunshine.
“Forever July” marks Sunmi’s first release in about eight months, following her debut full length album “Heart Maid,” which came out last November. According to her agency, “Abyss Company”, Sunmi once again helped write and compose the track herself.
The label described the song as a twist on the typical summer anthem. Instead of leaning into bright, sunny themes, “Forever July” draws from Korea’s rainy monsoon season, comparing love to a sudden, unexpected downpour. Built on a U.K. garage beat, the track captures both the excitement and uncertainty that come with a surprise romance.

Sunmi 2020 single “ppora-ppippam” climbed into the top 10 of the circle digital chart, and 2022’s “Heart Burn” continued that seasonal streak. This comeback follows a strong run for Sunmi. Her album “Heart Maid” received widespread praise after its release, and billboard Korea named it one of the 25 best K-pop albums of 2025.

She launched her solo career in 2013 with “24 Hours” and has since become one of K-pop’s most recognized female soloists, known for hits like “Gashina,” “Heroine,” “Siren,” and “Tail.” Sunmi has earned praise throughout her career for developing distinctive concepts and staying closely involved in the creative process behind her music.
