ISLAMABAD: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated the people of Pakistan on their 79th Independence Day, praising cooperation between Washington and Pakistan and calling it for stronger ties in trade, energy, counterterrorism and critical minerals.
In a statement, Rubio said the United States valued its cooperation with Pakistan in areas including counterterrorism and trade. He also expressed hope that the two countries could expand their economic relationship through new business opportunities.
Rubio highlighted critical minerals and hydrocarbons as emerging areas for greater cooperation between the two countries. “We look forward to fostering dynamic business partnerships that will promote a prosperous future for both Americans and Pakistanis,” Rubio said.
He also pointed to cooperation in regional mediation, energy, cultural heritage, counterterrorism, trade and investment. “On behalf of the United States of America, I extend warm congratulations to the people of Pakistan on their Independence Day,” Rubio said.

He said the United States and Pakistan were working together across several areas while building stronger ties between their people. Rubio said the two countries’ cooperation could create new opportunities in regional and global markets.
He also stressed the importance of developing business partnerships that could support a prosperous future for both Americans and Pakistanis. The message highlighted Washington’s interest in strengthening economic and strategic engagement with Islamabad as the two countries explore new areas of cooperation.
Rubio also described the relationship between the United States and Pakistan as a partnership supported by bonds of friendship between their peoples. “On this special occasion, we commemorate the partnership between our nations and the bonds of friendship between our peoples,” he said.
The statement comes as Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day on Aug. 14, marking an occasion used by both countries to highlight their existing cooperation and discuss opportunities for stronger relations.
