Interior Minister confirms escape of Ehsanullah from state’s custody

Interior Minister Ijaz Shah confirmed on Monday that former spokesperson of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Ehsanullah Ehsan had indeed escaped from custody of the state.

A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Home Affairs was held after which a media talk confirmed the news of Ehsanullah Ehsan by Interior Minister Ijaz Shah.

At the Parliament House while responding to a reporter’s question of whether reports of Ehsan’s escape were true, the minister acknowledged that the TTP’s former spokesperson had indeed escaped, adding that the state was aware of the matter.

When asked if something was being done in this regard, Shah said: “A lot is happening”.

However, he did not clarify what exactly “a lot” meant.

Ijaz Shah said that soon the state will get good news about Ehsanullah Ehsan.

Earlier, In a short audio message, which could not be independently verified, Ehsan had disclosed that on January 11, 2020, he had managed to escape from the “custody of the Pakistani security authorities”.
