PTA blocks Bigo Video App, warns TikTok

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked video application Bigo and warned TikTok for the last time as PTA’s next target is to block TikTok from Pakistan.

According to details, various complaints have been registered against TikTok for spreading vulgarity and immorality against society. Numerous complaints were also filed against the video App Bigo. In response to the complaints, PTA has blocked Bigo today.

PTA sent the requisite legal notices to the above-mentioned social media platforms to regulate socialization and content within legal and moral limits, in accordance with the country’s laws.

Those companies’ response, however, was not satisfactory.

Thus, in enforcing its powers under PECA, PTA agreed to immediately block Bigo and send a warning letter to Tik Tok to put in place a robust system for regulating obscenity, vulgarity, and immorality through its social media application.

Earlier, PTA has banned PUBG in Pakistan after getting complaints from the parents of the children who binge played the game.
