Galaxy S22 Model Numbers Revealed, Expected Launch Next Year

Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra are the only phones aside from the foldable series that will be launched this year. The Galaxy Note series is on a break. And if anyone is not interested in upcoming Galaxy foldable phones, the Galaxy S22 series will be the next big thing.

As the year 2022 is nearing, more and more leaks regarding Galaxy S22 will be revealed over the internet.

There are a few small leaks – the S22 could feature up to 65W fast charging and newer camera sensors, most probably a 200MP sensor with Olympus branding.

It’s anyone’s guess whether any of the previous rumors are accurate, but in the meanwhile, our sources have provided new information to add to the mix. The Galaxy S22 phones have the following model numbers: The Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra (tentative names for now) should have model numbers SM-S901x, SM-S906x, and SM-S908x, according to our sources.

Samsung’s SM-G9xx model number series began with the Galaxy S5, which was designated as the SM-G900x, and ended with the Galaxy S21 smartphones, which were designated as the SM-G991x, SM-G996x, and SM-G998x. Instead of going with something like SM-G1000x for the Galaxy S22, Samsung appears to be converting the G to an S and starting over with the 9xx range of numbers for the following decade of Galaxy S flagships.

These model numbers suggest that 5G connection will be standard on all three Galaxy S22 versions, which is to be expected given that all of Samsung’s 2021 flagships are (or will be) 5G-ready. Other details are currently unknown, but we can expect the new AMD-powered Exynos chipset to be one of the S22’s key draws when it launches next year (current rumors point at a January launch).
