TikTok Surpasses Facebook at Becoming the World’s Most Downloaded App

The video sharing giant, TikTok, originated from China, has become the world’s most downloaded application as per the google survey of downloads from 2020.

Some people say, TikTok is not as secure as other most used apps on the App store and Google Play Store. Due to which, former US President Donald Trump asked the company to sell off its US operations, otherwise, be banned in the region. Nevertheless, the popularity of the video-sharing app grew, and it became the leading downloaded application in the major continents, for instance, Asia, United States, South America and Europe.

In 2017, an international version TikTok was launched, and it has since overtaken all the Facebook owned apps, including the social media giant itself.

Since the coronavirus outbreak in 2020, Telegram, the next in line after Whatsapp, also made it to top 10 most downloaded apps worldwide.
