MOSCOW: Russia will evacuate more than 380 Russian and foreign citizens from Afghanistan, the Russian Defense Ministry’s Zvezda broadcasting service reported Thursday.

“On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu organized the evacuation of more than 380 citizens from Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Ukraine, and Afghanistan from Afghan territory,” it said, citing the ministry.

Military medics were sent with the necessary medical equipment to aid and support those people, the ministry said.

Three Russian Il-76 military transport aircraft have delivered humanitarian aid to the Kabul airport and are continuing evacuation procedures.
