Soaring price amid rising demand: PM Shehbaz bans sugar export

To contain the soaring price amid rising domestic demand, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Monday banned the export of sugar across the country.

The premier made this announcement on Twitter.

“Given the domestic demand, I have ordered a complete ban on the export of sugar,” he said in his tweet.

The premier also warned that there will be strict action against the smuggling and hoarding of the commodity. “There will be a strict action against smuggling & hoarding,” he went on to say in his tweet.

PM Shehbaz said there will be no tolerance for dereliction of duties of the concerned officials. He said, “Absolutely zero tolerance for those found negligent in their duties.”

It has been reported that the prices of the daily use commodities have been jacking up across the country soon after the month of Ramadan is over.

Government officials have claimed that the prices of sugar and other kitchen items are rising due to the global trend of inflation. However, they assured that the inflation will be controlled and the people will be delivered relief in the coming days.
