KARACHI: Sindh Home Department has imposed section 144 in the red zone area in Karachi for one month  and also issued a notification.

In the notification issued by the Sindh Home Department, it has been said that Section 144 has been implemented on the request of the Inspector General (IG) Police Sindh.

According to the notification, the IG Sindh had written a letter to the Home Department saying that a session of the Sindh Assembly has been called on February 24.

There are intelligence reports that some miscreants have called for a protest on this occasion. There is a risk of hindering the democratic process and creating a situation of disturbance in law and order.

The Sindh Home Department, expressing satisfaction with the reasons given by the IG Sindh, approved the implementation of Section 144 in the red zone of Karachi for one month by taking preliminary steps to maintain the law and order situation.

According to the notification, gathering of people, protests and rallies will be banned in Karachi’s South Zone and Red Zone for one month.

In the notification, the SHOs posted at the respective police stations of Red Zone and South Zone have been instructed to take legal action under PPC 188 for violating Section 144.
