Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in Tezgam Express fire incident in Rahim Yar Khan here on Thursday.

In his message he tendered his condolences towards the families whose loved ones died in the mishap.

The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to provide prompt and best possible medical treatment to those injured in the incident.

Special Assistant to Prime Minsiter on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan has also expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in Tezgam train incident. She condoled with the bereaved families.

Whereas, President Dr. Arif Alvi, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other politicos expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident.

Earlier today, Tezgam train, which was on its way from Karachi to Rawalpindi, caught fire near Tanori Station Chak no. 6 Chani Goth.

According to the details, dozens have reportedly been wounded, whereas, 65 have been confirmed dead after 3 bogies of Tezgam train caught fire near Liaquatpur.

Rescue teams arrived at timely basis and moved the injured to Liaquatpur hospital.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid blamed the passengers for bringing stoves into the train, saying Railways was not at fault.

Train was stopped at Liaquatpur station, and will be resumed within two hours, Sheikh Rashid confirmed.

10 firefighter vehicles were deployed to extinguish the fire. Pakistan Army contingents have also been dispatched to the area to take part in rescue and relief activities.

An Army Aviation Helicopter was airlifting the injured from the site of the incident.
