COAS meets top Iranian Defense Officials, ISPR

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Jawed Bajwa met Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani and Army Chief Major General Abdul Rahim Mousavi on Tuesday.

According to Director General Inter-Services Public Relations ( ISPR), COAS met Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani and Army Chief Major General Abdul Rahim Mousavi.

DG ISPR said that regional security environment and bilateral defense cooperation were discussed in the meeting.

Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday reached Tehran as part of Pakistan’s continuing efforts aimed at defusing tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa met with Chief of Staff Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein.

Both discussed the regional security environment, efforts for regional peace & stability and Pak-Iran Border Security Mechanism.

The two military commanders discussed the expansion of defense cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.

The Pakistani army chief and the Iranian commander reviewed the avenues regarding strengthening bilateral relations in the military as well as security affairs.

Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan along with ISI chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed visited Tehran as part of efforts by Pakistan to facilitate talks between Tehran and Riyadh.
