FM Qureshi conducts meeting with US lawmakers

Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi conducted a meeting with the US lawmakers in Washington DC on Thursday.

Foreign Minister had negotiations with the lawmakers on various topics including the US Pakistan relationship, circumstances in South Asia, Afghan peace and recent advancements in Middle East.

According to the foreign office press release, FM Qureshi also gave briefing regarding the ongoing situation in Indian-Occupied Kashmir. He also discussed its impact on national security.


Shah Mahmood Qureshi said “Peace and stability in South Asia would remain elusive until the Kashmir dispute was resolved by international law and the wishes of the Kashmiri people,”

In addition to these, the Senators also explained Pakistan’s positive part in the Afghan peace process and requested to maintain support in the future. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that they will keep providing their support on this matter.

Apart from that, the Foreign minister also mentioned that the country will keep working to maintain peace between Pakistan and the US.

While talking about Pakistan’s responsibility in the critical situations happening in the Middle East, he said “Pakistan is for peace and we would do whatever we can to promote and facilitate peace,”

Senators also agreed with FM Qureshi to maintain cooperation between the two countries.

Republican Senator Jim Risch, Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Asia Mitt Romney, and Democratic Ranking Member Chris Murphy attended the meeting with FM Qureshi.
