Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called on US Senator Lindsey Graham in Washington and UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres in New York.

According to the details, talking to US Senator Lindsey Graham in Washington, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment for playing a positive role for peace and stability in the region.

While talking to UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the United Nations should discourage India from provoking a conflict with Pakistan and avert humanitarian catastrophe and growing dangers to South Asian peace and stability.

FM Qureshi also attended the CSIS session, where he spoke of re-framing the Strategic Pakistan-U.S Relationship, laying out our vision for the bilateral relationship.

FM Qureshi stated “in this fluid regional/global environment both in East & West, we believe a stable and thriving partnership with U.S is vital.”

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi reached New York on Wednesday on a three-day visit to United States (US) amid Iran-US conflict.

He met UNSC leaders, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, National Security Advisor Robert O’ Brien and other senior Administration officials.

Taking to Twitter following the meetings, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said: “Occupied J&K is an internationally recognized dispute that has been on the agenda of UNSC for 7 decades.”

“Today’s discussions have once again reaffirmed its Int’l dispute status and the urgency to resolve it in accordance with UNSC resolutions & aspirations of the Kashmiri people.”

FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi further said, “In my meetings with President UNSC, President UNGA & UN Secretary General, I emphasized the humanitarian crisis and the reign of terror unleashed on innocent Kashmiris by India since 5 August 2019.”

Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) expressed concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

The UNSC in New York discussed the grave situation in occupied Kashmir for the second time in five months.

After the meeting, China’s UN Ambassador Zhang Jun told reporters that we had a meeting on Indian occupied J&K.

He said the 15-member Council heard a briefing from the UN Secretariat on the situation.

Mr. Zhang said the issue of Kashmir between India and Pakistan is always on the agenda of the Security Council.
