Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday has arrived in Azad Kashmir (AJK) and inquired about the health of land sliding and snow-hit victims at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Muzaffarabad.

The premier along reviewed the relief activities in the snow-hit areas.

He was accompanied by Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur.

According to sources, PM Imran Khan visited AJK snow-hit areas to personally monitor the relief work.

Moreover, the prime minister also met and inquired the families affected by land sliding in AJK.

Meanwhile, the premiere has directed to immediately provide all humanitarian assistance on an emergency footing to the people.

In a tweet, he asked the National Disaster Management Authority, the military and all federal ministers to take timely actions in this regard.

Earlier, at least 70 people died in three days due to severe cold, rain related incidents, landsliding and avalanche in Neelum valley, AJK.

Media reports cited The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)’s official statement.

It said an increase in the death toll anticipated by the authority.

According to NDMA, rains in Baluchistan have claimed 15 lives and have injured 11 others.

At least 55 deaths and 12 injured have been reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

In Neelum valley, 19 people have died in an avalanche while 10 others are still missing.

According to NDMA, four injured have been rescued while work is currently under way to rescue the remaining people.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Baluchistan Jam Kamal Khan visited Quetta and other areas, and extended his condolences on the demise of people.

He instructed the authorities to give access to the disconnected areas.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Bazdar called Jamal Kamal Khan and expressed his regret over the loss of valuable lives and also offered all kind of assistance to the Balochistan government.

Land sliding and snowfall in Azad Kashmir killed 10 people, injured 12, damaged 23 buildings and destroyed three vehicles.

The land contact between Neelum and Leepa Valley also disconnected.
