Sindh: Special powers of Rangers extended by 90 days

The Sindh government had sent the summary for extension of powers of Rangers for 90 days in the province, which was approved by the federation.

According to the statement, Sindh Rangers have given special powers in the entire province, including Karachi, under Section 4 (3) of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 for 90 days.

Following the extension, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) will have special powers from April 2, 2020 to June 30, 2020.

Rangers in Sindh have been allowed to stay under Article 147 of the Constitution in Sindh with special powers under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 in Karachi.

These powers include the arrest, interrogation and uprooting of criminal elements, political and religious terrorists in Karachi.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, Rangers are working alongside police and other agencies to ensure enforcement of the lockdown.
