The federal cabinet has approved an increase in EOBI’s pensions.

A meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which approval was given to increase the pension of Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI).

According to sources, EOBI pensioners will now get Rs 8,500 instead of Rs 6,500.

During the meeting, Special Assistant Zulfi Bukhari gave a briefing on the increase in salaries while the Ministry of Overseas had proposed an increase of Rs 2,000.

Sources said that the federal cabinet has approved an increase of Rs 2,000 in the pensions of EOBI pensioners.

It is to be noted that on December 12, 2019, Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced to increase the minimum pension of pensioners under EOBI from Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000.
