After the approval of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Minister of State for Narcotics Shehryar Afridi has been removed from the post.

The Cabinet Secretariat has issued a notification to de-notify Shehryar Afridi. It may be recalled that even earlier, the Prime Minister had withdrawn the portfolio from Shahriar Afridi.

However, he was reinstated a few days later. The Prime Minister took action after the report on the flour and sugar crisis came to light in April this year.

Meanwhile, Senator Azam Swati, the Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, was given the portfolio of Narcotics Control in place of Shehryar Afridi.
