Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across Sindh will remain closed for 24 hours.

According to the All Pakistan CNG Association, the closure effective from 8 am will Wednesday will be in place till 8 am Thursday. Gas supply will be restored on Thursday while gas supply will be suspended for another 24 hours on Friday.

Meanwhile, RLNG stations will remain open. Gas supply to them will continue as usual. According to officials, due to a reduction in gas pressure across Sindh, including Karachi, domestic consumers and the commercial sector are facing difficulties in meeting demand. Officials said that the amount of gas received from various gas fields has decreased.

It may be recalled that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), yesterday hiked gas prices for CNG, power sector, and industrial sector.

OGRA had issued a notification to increase the price of gas from September, according to which the price of gas for the fertilizer sector has been increased by Rs 2 per MMBTU.

According to the notification, gas for power stations and independent power producers (IPPs) has been increased by Rs 33 per MMBTU. However Minimum gas charges for power stations have been increased by Rs 518 per MMBTU.
