Amidst the surging Coronavirus cases in Pakistan, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has decided to impose a complete lockdown for two weeks across the region starting November 21.

During a meeting of the AJK cabinet members today with Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider in the chair, it was decided to impose a 14-day lockdown due to increasing COVID-19 cases.

According to the details, the ongoing virus situation hPrimas worsened as the positive rate has soared to 19% across the region.

There would be a complete lockdown in all AJK districts with a ban on weddings and other gatherings. All schools and businesses will remain shut during the lockdown. Strict screening at the entry points of the region would be ensured.

Besides, the number of employees in government offices will be divided as 50% and the rest wouldn’t be allowed to come to offices and they would work from home.

Moreover, according to the government’s portal on Covid-19, the total number of Covid cases in the region stands at 5,538.
