Pakistan has recorded 111 fatalities due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in a single day – the highest death tally since June 29.

According to the COVID-19 portal of the government, with newly recorded deaths, the national mark now stands 9668. Whereas 2,256 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours taking the total caseload to 465,070.

The total count of active cases is 38,268. Moreover, 1,782 patients have recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours and 2,361 patients are in critical condition.

A total of 37,173 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Overall 417,134 people have recovered from the deadly disease so far while 6,428,240 samples have been tested thus far.

According to the media reports, the National Command and Operation Center has informed that the government is in close liaison with leading COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers, those from China and regularly reviewing development data of phase-III trials.

Meanwhile, according to an official of the Ministry of National Health Services, the government has already completed all prerequisites to submit the vaccine request to GAVI, through the COVAX facility, a coalition for equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines by all countries.

The Official said that Pakistan and other GAVI eligible countries are likely to receive free of cost vaccines for a proportion of the population as well as additional quantities on special subsidized rates.

An official said that the government is committed to ensuring the availability of safe and effective vaccines to the most vulnerable population groups.

World Coronavirus Situation

The number of Coronavirus cases across the world has reached 79,057,185 while the pandemic has claimed 1,737,748 lives so far. As many as 55,648,447 patients have recovered from the disease across the world.
