Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday said that a comprehensive strategy is needed to meet the security challenges of Pakistan.

According to the details, General Bajwa was addressing the Islamabad Security Dialogue, where he said that National Security Dialogue is the need of time and no nation can fight terrorism alone, as today’s world is suffering from its different forms.

General Bajwa underlined the need for countries to work together to face various challenges such as terrorism, the coronavirus pandemic and other global issues.

Chief of the Army Staff stressed the importance of Pakistan’s geostrategic location, adding that it positions Pakistan to promote regional connectivity and operate as a trade and transit hub for the region.

During his address, Army Chief urged the global community to enhance their relations and move towards convergence rather than divergence for the benefit of the world.

Army Chief said that Pakistan like other countries in the South Asian region is facing multidimensional challenges that cannot be handled alone. He stressed the need for timely cooperation among countries to meet the needs of time.

COAS said the world has witnessed setbacks such as the World Wars and the Cold War in which millions lost their lives. Adding that, history had taught all of us that progress has been achieved through an interconnected and interdependent sense of security.

“Pakistan has been one of the few countries that, despite the rising challenges, has resisted the temptation of involving itself in an arms race,” he said. Adding that, “Our defense expenditures have rather reduced instead of increasing.”

Speaking on the matter of Kashmir, Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that without the resolution of the Kashmir issue through peaceful means, the region will always remain susceptible to tensions and conflicts. He also added that it is time to bury the past and move forward.
