Heavy Monsoon Rains: PM Directs All Dept To Remain High Alert To Deal Any Emergency

Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed all the relevant response agencies including NDMA to be on high alert with ready and rapid emergency response actions amidst heavy monsoon rains.

In his message, the Prime Minister wrote, “With the heavy monsoon rains I want to alert and caution our citizens to take special care.”

Cloudburst has disrupted life in the federal capital Islamabad and Rawalpindi, causing flooding in various areas.

Heavy rains hit the E-11 area of Islamabad the hardest, with water entering homes and flooding, damaging dozens of vehicles.

Two people died when water entered the house.

Army Teams Turn Up To Rescue People

The overnight heavy rains lashing Islamabad, the federal capital of the country, has left Sector E11 flooded with fears of nullahs flowing for which civilian authorities have little support.

According to the details, heavy rains lashing Islamabad has left the city at the mercy of torrential streams inducing fears of high-level flooding of Nullah as Army teams and resources turn up to rescue people.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) teams are working to clear the roads. All the teams are in the field to clear excessive water. The machinery is working on maximum locations for clearance.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army troops are busy assisting civil administration in rescue and relief efforts. Contingencies plans are in place to meet any flood situation, it added.

The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad said in a Tweet that cloudburst in Islamabad has caused floods in various parts of the city.

He said, ” Teams are clearing nullahs/roads. Hopefully, we will be able to clear everything in an hour. Everyone is requested to plz cooperate and restricted unnecessary movement for the next 2 hours.
