Skyrocketing dollar strikes rates of daily necessities

Skyrocketing dollar prices have pushed up the prices of daily necessities including the rates of fruits, vegetables, and chicken.

According to the statistics, the prices of fruits in the market have now increased by Rs 30 to 40 per kg, while potatoes and onions have also gone up by Rs 10 per kg.

Likewise, chicken’s price has also gone up by another Rs 25. After an increase of Rs 25 in the price of chicken, alive chicken is being sold at Rs 330 per kg while eggs are being sold at Rs 160 per dozen after an increase of Rs 7.

On the other hand, goat meat (mutton) is being sold at Rs. 1600 per kg, beef without bones and boneless at Rs. 800 per kg.

Ghee costs Rs 480 per kg, cooking oil Rs 490, and 10 kg bag of flour Rs 750, sugar Rs 90, and milled flour Rs 90 per kg.

Whereas, fine quality basmati rice is being sold at Rs 200 per kg, second quality rice at Rs 200 per kg, and third quality rice at Rs 170 per kg.

However, lentils per gram at Rs 180 per kg, and white chickpea at Rs 280/320 per kg.

While dairy items like tetra pack milk are available at Rs 165 per kg, milk at Rs 150 per kg and yogurt costs Rs 160 per kg.

Vegetable rates have increased as potato’s price is now Rs 40 per kg, onion Rs 90 per kg, tomato Rs 100 per kg, ginger Rs 200, and garlic Rs 300 per kg and lemons are priced at Rs 400 per kg.

However Iranian black apples are Rs 350 per kg, white apples at Rs 220, Pakistani bananas are Rs 200, peach at Rs 180, and watermelon at Rs 30 per kg.
