PESHAWAR: Caretaker Provincial Minister Haji Muhammad Ghafran has voluntarily relinquished ministerial perks and privileges in office.
The provincial minister sent a letter to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister Azam Khan informing him of the decision to not accept any official privileges.
“I am pleased to voluntarily withdraw from any perk and privileges of my office as Caretaker Minister designate including salary, allowances, POL, TA/DA, accommodation, staff car and ancillary staff including driver, etc,” the letter said
“I remained committed to the trust endowed in my person and will continue to serve the people and the Province to the best of my ability and conscience,” the letter added.
The provincial minister also sent a letter to the Chief Secretary and Administration Department of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The caretaker cabinet in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was sworn in on Thursday in at a ceremony held at the Governor’s House in Peshawar.
A controversy arose soon after the PTI rejected the 15-member interim cabinet. Fourteen cabinet members took oath as one of them was abroad and would be administered his oath on his return.
The PTI rejected the formation of the KP cabinet over not consulting with the party before proceeding ahead with the move. They claimed that apart from three or four ministers in the cabinet, all others have been appointed on political grounds.
Haji Ghufran belongs to the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP). He remained a QWP senator and is a close friend of former governor and chief minister Sardar Mehtab Abbasi of the PML-N.
