ISLAMABAD: Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), an ally of the PTI, has not been allotted reserved seats in Punjab and Sindh Assemblies so far.

Number of reserved seats in Punjab Assembly is 74 – 66 women while 8 minority seats.

The number of reserved seats for women in Punjab 66 while notification of 42 has been issued.

Whereas, the notification of 24 seats for women in Punjab has not yet been issued, sources said.

Official notifications of 35 reserved seats for women members of the Muslim League-N has been released, two women members of Pakistan People’s Party and two women members of Pakistan Muslim League, one woman member of the Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party became a member of the assembly on a reserved seat.

Five minority members of the Muslim League-N are also notified, said the official notification.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has released the notification of reserved seats for women and minority members of the Punjab Assembly.

In the Sindh Assembly, People’s Party has been allotted 20 reserved seats for women, 6 seats for the MQM, one for GDA and six seats for minority have also been notified.

Meanwhile, the media reports say that the Election Commission of Pakistan will take a decision tomorrow (Friday) regarding whether or not to give reserved seats to the Sunni Ittehad Council.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) forwarded the affiliation certificates of independent members aligned with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

According to information provided by the PTI Secretariat, a total of 86 independent members have pledged their allegiance to the Sunni Ittehad Council for the National Assembly.

Simultaneously, certificates for 105 members of the Sunni Unity Council for the Punjab Assembly and 85 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have been submitted.

Additionally, the joining certificates of 9 independent members of the Sindh Assembly have also been presented to the Election Commission, further consolidating the presence of the Sunni Ittehad Council in key legislative bodies.
