RAWALPINDI: Four militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
As per the military’s communication wing, security forces launched an IBO in response to intelligence indicating the presence of militants in North Waziristan. A significant exchange of fire occurred between the security forces and the militants during the operation, resulting in the death of four militants.
The ISPR said that the slain militants were involved in various terrorist activities. Additionally, weapons, ammunition, and explosives were seized from the militants.
“The area is being thoroughly cleared to eliminate any remaining terrorist presence,” stated the ISPR, highlighting the support and appreciation received from the local populace for the operation aimed at eradicating terrorism.
This operation follows a similar incident on March 2, where three militants were eliminated and four others were injured during an IBO in Karak district, KP.
These operations come amid an uptick in terrorist incidents across the country, particularly in KP and Balochistan, subsequent to the termination of the ceasefire between the government and the banned militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022.
