Last month, Punjab Traffic Police handed out 234,000 driving licenses across the province. Around 70,000 people chose the online option to get their licenses.
Unfortunately, over 46,000 motorcyclists were fined for not wearing helmets, and more than 180,000 fines were issued to drivers without licenses or underage ones.
Moreover, 230,000 vehicles were fined for breaking lane rules and overloading. Shockingly, there were 37,634 road accidents resulting in 282 deaths. The Emergency Services Department urged motorcyclists to stick to 50 km/h in the left lane to reduce accidents.
Although there was some improvement in people getting licenses, many still got fined. The traffic police slapped fines totaling millions on over 972,000 drivers for various violations.
