Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, emphasized the need to establish additional trade points in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) to bolster Pak-Afghan trade.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai held a press conference in Quetta, where he discussed several significant issues.
He argued that expanding trade would not only boost the economy but also create job opportunities for the people.
Achakzai expressed his concern about the current state of the country, particularly the tensions with neighboring nations.
He pointed out that, except for Nawaz Sharif, most political leaders were making statements that were not conducive to maintaining good relations with neighboring countries.
He stressed that such statements were against the interests of Pakistan.
Highlighting the importance of trade relations with Afghanistan, Achakzai mentioned that the current trade volume with Afghanistan is estimated at $14 million.
He believed that trade between the two countries could potentially reach $2 billion.
Achakzai also referred to the Afghan Transit Trade Agreement of 2010, which is significant for cross-border trade.
He underscored the economic challenges facing the country and emphasized the importance of every rupee in the current economic situation.
Furthermore, Achakzai discussed the demarcation of Pakistan’s boundaries, as established in the Act of Independence.
He pointed out that India had taken advantage of removing the article related to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) from the constitution and also removed the article related to Kashmir from its own constitution.
