KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated the Qayyumabad to Kathore segment of Shahrah-e-Bhutto in Karachi on Friday and also laid the foundation stone of the Qayyumabad to Karachi Port Expressway project.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the party will establish a port in Karachi under a public-private partnership model, while highlighting ongoing development projects in the city.
Addressing a ceremony in Karachi, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said he invites political opponents to visit the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, adding that people from across Pakistan come to Karachi for treatment.
He said world-class free healthcare services are being provided at NICVD and noted that he has inaugurated multiple development projects across the province, expressing pride in launching projects in his hometown.
The PPP chairman said Karachi has witnessed unprecedented development since 2008, claiming that more projects were completed during PPP governments than in previous decades.
He credited the party with major infrastructure initiatives, including Shahrah-e-Faisal and the Lyari Expressway, and said PPP welcomes all stakeholders to contribute to economic development.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Karachi is emerging as a healthcare hub and referred to reforms following the 18th Constitutional Amendment, adding that chest pain units have been established across districts to provide advanced treatment.
He said he entered politics to continue the unfinished mission of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
The PPP chairman said rising economic challenges require coordinated efforts, adding that global conflicts are increasing economic pressure on developing countries.
He noted that Field Marshal Asim Munir is working to help reduce regional tensions and expressed hope for successful ceasefire efforts to ease economic hardships.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the government is providing relief through initiatives such as the Kissan Card, fuel subsidies for motorcyclists, and planned support for fishermen, while acknowledging fiscal limitations.
He said public-private partnerships are being prioritized to create jobs and improve business conditions, adding that Pakistan is taking a leading role in the region in this model.
He proposed the development of a Sindh Financial Centre to enhance competitiveness and said Karachi remains the country’s fastest-growing city.
The PPP chairman also announced plans for a Keti Bandar port project, saying it would transform the coastal region and bring economic benefits to surrounding districts including Thatta, Sujawal, and Badin.

He added that PPP is open to working with the business community through consortiums to complete major development projects.
