Rawalpindi: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, in Riyadh, where matters of mutual interest were discussed, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir was conferred the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence (Class) on the special directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz. The King Abdulaziz Medal is Saudi Arabia’s highest national honor, ISPR stated.
The award recognizes Field Marshal Asim Munir’s outstanding military services and leadership, particularly his role in strengthening defense cooperation and strategic alignment between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. His contributions to counterterrorism cooperation, as well as efforts toward regional peace and stability, were also acknowledged.
The Saudi leadership praised the Field Marshal’s professional capabilities and strategic vision during the meeting.
Expressing his gratitude, Field Marshal Asim Munir thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi leadership for the honor. He described the award as a symbol of the longstanding and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, ISPR added.
