Heavy rain and thunderstorm likely across Pakistan

PMD forecasts widespread dust storms, strong winds, rain, thunderstorms across country.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread dust storms, strong winds, rain and thunderstorms across large parts of the country from June 11 to June 13, warning of possible urban flooding, landslides and damage to infrastructure.

Under the influence of the prevailing weather systems, several parts of Pakistan are expected to experience dust storms, strong winds, and rain-thunderstorms from June 11 to 13, with occasional gaps between weather activities.

Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Noorpur Thal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Kot Addu are likely to receive scattered rain accompanied by dust storms and strong winds. Some areas may also witness heavy rainfall and hailstorms during this period.

Similar weather conditions are expected in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur. In Gilgit-Baltistan, rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar from June 11 to 13.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, scattered dust storms, gusty winds, and rain-thunderstorms are expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, and Kurram. Heavy rainfall and hailstorms may occur in a few areas.

Meanwhile, northeastern districts of Balochistan, including Zhob, Sherani, Ziarat, Qillah Saifullah, Barkhan, and Dera Bugti, are also expected to receive dust storms and rain-thunderstorms during the same period.

Upper Sindh is likely to experience dust and windstorms, particularly in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, and Shaheed Benazirabad between June 11 and 13.
