KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has officially declared a local holiday on June 8 on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi, one of the city’s most significant religious observances.

According to a notification issued by the Human Resource Management Department of KMC, the holiday will be observed on June 8, corresponding to 22 Zilhaj 1447 AH. The decision has been taken in accordance with a resolution passed by the Karachi City Council.
The notification further states that all offices under KMC administrative control will remain closed on the designated day. However, essential and emergency service departments will continue to operate as usual to ensure uninterrupted public services across the city.
KMC officials confirmed that the decision has been approved by the competent authority, and all concerned departments have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the holiday notification.
The Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi attracts thousands of devotees from across the country every year, making it one of Karachi’s most attended spiritual gatherings.
The event is marked by religious rituals, spiritual gatherings, and commemorative activities, along with special arrangements for security, crowd management, and facilitation of pilgrims.
