RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that a “mentally unstable individual has turned into a threat to national security,” warning that any attack on the armed forces driven by personal motives will be dealt with firmly.
Speaking to the media, the military spokesperson said the Pakistan Army is making sacrifices every day for the country and its people. “One person believes that if not him, then nothing else matters. This narrative has become dangerous for national security,” he stated.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif added that tweets made from the account of this “mentally unstable person” are amplified across platforms. “No one will be allowed to incite the public against the Pakistan Army,” he warned.
He termed the establishment of the Chief of Defence Forces Headquarters a significant development, adding that such systems exist globally and its formation in Pakistan is a positive step. He congratulated all stakeholders on the appointment of the Chief of Defence Forces.
The DG ISPR reiterated that the armed forces represent the state of Pakistan—not any political party, ethnic group, or religious ideology—and will not allow anyone to drag the institution into political campaigns.
He said certain social media accounts based abroad, including networks linked to India and Afghanistan, are engaged in orchestrated propaganda against the Pakistan Army to create rifts between the institution and the public.
Highlighting repeated narratives emerging after jail meetings of some political figures, he said such rhetoric harms national interests. He noted that negative campaigns about the economy, remittances, and international institutions are designed to damage Pakistan.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif stressed that the military respects all political parties, but no group will be allowed to strengthen hostile narratives or run propaganda against state institutions, as regional adversaries seek to exploit such situations.
