The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is speeding up work on a new mobile app that will let citizens renew passports online and use digital passport services from anywhere in Pakistan.
This progress was reviewed in a high-level meeting led by Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa, where officials discussed the ongoing digitization of passport services.
Officials said the app is being developed quickly, and the online passport renewal service is expected to be launched soon. Through this system, people will be able to apply for passport services, renew passports, and complete their applications using mobile phones without having to visit passport offices again and again.
The meeting took place at the Passport and Immigration Headquarters and was attended by officials from NADRA. They also discussed plans to set up passport service counters at NADRA centers across the country so citizens can access multiple services in one place.
DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa instructed departments to complete all digital projects on time and stressed the importance of using technology to improve public services.
Officials also reviewed the expansion of the passport home delivery service, which will deliver passports directly to people’s homes for added convenience.
Authorities believe these digital steps, including the new app, will make passport services more transparent, efficient, and easy to access as part of the government’s digital system plan.
The new system is expected to make passport processes faster and more convenient for millions of Pakistanis by reducing paperwork and in-person visits to government offices.
