ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is heading to Saudi Arabia on Thursday for a crucial two-day official visit as Pakistan seeks to further strengthen its longstanding partnership with Riyadh amid rising regional tensions.
The prime minister, accompanied by a high-level delegation, will hold talks with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on bilateral cooperation, regional developments and diplomatic efforts to promote stability.
According to sources, the high-level meeting between the two leaders will cover a broad range of issues, including economic cooperation, strategic relations and the evolving security situation in the Middle East.
The discussions are also expected to include an exchange of views on the Iran-US conflict and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and preventing further escalation in the region.
The visit comes at a time of heightened uncertainty in the Middle East, with Pakistan continuing diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners to support peace and stability through dialogue.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and prosperity during a telephone conversation with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
During the conversation, the prime minister strongly condemned the attacks carried out by Houthi militants against Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, describing such actions as a violation of international law and a threat to freedom of navigation, commercial shipping and regional security.
Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed Pakistan’s complete solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and said Pakistan stands firmly with the Saudi leadership and people during challenging times.
He further stated that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the entire Pakistani nation remain committed to strengthening the brotherly relationship between the two countries.
The upcoming visit is expected to further enhance cooperation between Islamabad and Riyadh on diplomatic, economic and regional security matters.
