LOWER DIR: In a decisive intelligence-based operation in the mountainous Brichar area of Talash, security forces killed six militants during an intense exchange of fire, officials said, marking a significant success in ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
According to police, the joint operation was carried out by district police, the Elite Force, and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) after credible intelligence about the presence of militants in the area.
Authorities confirmed that the militants were involved in several terrorist activities, including an attack on a police checkpoint and the killing of a police official. The identified individuals include Khalil-ur-Rehman, Naeem-ud-Din, and Kifayatullah.

The CTD reported that six Kalashnikov rifles and three hand grenades were recovered from the site. A search operation has been launched to trace any accomplices who managed to escape during the encounter.
The Inspector General of Police said operations against militancy will continue until terrorism is completely eradicated from the province.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the operation, commending the professionalism and bravery of the CTD and police personnel.
He said the security forces had thwarted the “evil designs” of militants and expressed pride in their courage and commitment to maintaining law and order.
